What are hemorrhoids?

The term hemorrhoids refers to a condition in which the veins around the anus or lower rectum are swollen and inflamed.

Hemorrhoids may result from straining to move stool. Other contributing factors include pregnancy, aging, chronic constipation or diarrhea, and anal intercourse.

Hemorrhoids are either inside the anus?internal?or under the skin around the anus?external.

What are the symptoms of hemorrhoids?

Many anorectal problems, including fissures, fistulae, abscesses, or irritation and itching, also called pruritus ani, have similar symptoms and are incorrectly referred to as hemorrhoids.

Hemorrhoids usually are not dangerous or life threatening. In most cases, hemorrhoidal symptoms will go away within a few days.

Although many people have hemorrhoids, not all experience symptoms. The most common symptom of internal hemorrhoids is bright red blood covering the stool, on toilet paper, or in the toilet bowl. However, an internal hemorrhoid may protrude through the anus outside the body, becoming irritated and painful. This is known as a protruding hemorrhoid.

Symptoms of external hemorrhoids may include painful swelling or a hard lump around the anus that results when a blood clot forms. This condition is known as a thrombosed external hemorrhoid.

In addition, excessive straining, rubbing, or cleaning around the anus may cause irritation with bleeding and/or itching, which may produce a vicious cycle of symptoms. Draining mucus may also cause itching.

How common are hemorrhoids?

Hemorrhoids are common in both men and women. About half of the population has hemorrhoids by age 50. Hemorrhoids are also common among pregnant women. The pressure of the fetus on the abdomen, as well as hormonal changes, cause the hemorrhoidal vessels to enlarge. These vessels are also placed under severe pressure during childbirth. For most women, however, hemorrhoids caused by pregnancy are a temporary problem.

How are hemorrhoids diagnosed?

A thorough evaluation and proper diagnosis by the doctor is important any time bleeding from the rectum or blood in the stool occurs. Bleeding may also be a symptom of other digestive diseases, including colorectal cancer.

The doctor will examine the anus and rectum to look for swollen blood vessels that indicate hemorrhoids and will also perform a digital rectal exam with a gloved, lubricated finger to feel for abnormalities.

Closer evaluation of the rectum for hemorrhoids requires an exam with an anoscope, a hollow, lighted tube useful for viewing internal hemorrhoids, or a proctoscope, useful for more completely examining the entire rectum.

Illustration reprinted with permission from the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons. Artist: Russell K. Pearl, M.D. (http://digestive.niddk.nih.gov/ddiseases/pubs/hemorrhoids/images/Hemorrhoid.gif)

To rule out other causes of gastrointestinal bleeding, the doctor may examine the rectum and lower colon, or sigmoid, with sigmoidoscopy or the entire colon with colonoscopy. Sigmoidoscopy and colonoscopy are diagnostic procedures that also involve the use of lighted, flexible tubes inserted through the rectum.

What is the treatment?

Medical treatment of hemorrhoids is aimed initially at relieving symptoms. Measures to reduce symptoms include
> tub baths several times a day in plain, warm water for about 10 minutes
> application of a hemorrhoidal cream or suppository to the affected area for a limited time

Preventing the recurrence of hemorrhoids will require relieving the pressure and straining of constipation. Doctors will often recommend increasing fiber and fluids in the diet. Eating the right amount of fiber and drinking six to eight glasses of fluid?not alcohol?result in softer, bulkier stools. A softer stool makes emptying the bowels easier and lessens the pressure on hemorrhoids caused by straining. Eliminating straining also helps prevent the hemorrhoids from protruding.

Good sources of fiber are fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. In addition, doctors may suggest a bulk stool softener or a fiber supplement such as psyllium (Metamucil) or methylcellulose (Citrucel).

In some cases, hemorrhoids must be treated endoscopically or surgically. These methods are used to shrink and destroy the hemorrhoidal tissue. The doctor will perform the procedure during an office or hospital visit.

A number of methods may be used to remove or reduce the size of internal hemorrhoids. These techniques include

Rubber band ligation. A rubber band is placed around the base of the hemorrhoid inside the rectum. The band cuts off circulation, and the hemorrhoid withers away within a few days.

Sclerotherapy. A chemical solution is injected around the blood vessel to shrink the hemorrhoid.

Infrared coagulation. A special device is used to burn hemorrhoidal tissue.

Hemorrhoidectomy. Occasionally, extensive or severe internal or external hemorrhoids may require

Why humans can get hemorrhoids(piles) not other animals or living things?

admin answers:

Actually, some animals can get hemorrhoids. The link below advertises "natural remedies" for pet hemorrhoids! I kid you not.

Humans, and pet animals, are more prone to hemorrhoids because of their diet. If you're out eating a "natural" diet, tons of insoluble fibre etc., you don't have to strain as hard to pass waste. Humans are especially prone because of our tendency to be upright, and to sit; these positions limit drainage from the rectal veins.

Hemorrhoids/ Piles? HELP?

Sorry if you think this is gross. I could go to a doctor but I cannot leave the house at the moment.

I'm starting to have cramps again and feel the need to go to the bathroom. I feel scared. I don't think I'm having diarrhea because when I went earlier it was normal. My stomach just hurt.

I should tell you that last Friday, I kind of had a hard time defecating... So after that, the outside of my anus hurt a little. 2 days later, I defecated and it hurt again... until today.

admin answers:

Piles, or hemorrhoids, are areas in the anal canal where the tissue, which contains lots of blood vessels, has become swollen. They can be internal, occurring inside the anus, or external, when they can be seen and felt on the outside of the anus. When visible they look like round pink swellings, the size of a pea or a grape. Piles are common in pregnant women, but are rare in children.

Piles are classified according to their position. First-degree piles remain inside the rectum or anal canal. Second-degree piles protrude (or prolapse) from the anus when the bowels are opened, but return of their own accord afterwards. Third-degree piles are similar, but only return inside when pushed back. Fourth-degree piles hang permanently outside the anus.

Piles can usually be treated at home. The most important element in encouraging existing piles to clear up is to avoid constipation. By having regular bowel movements, and avoiding straining, stools pass easily and do not put pressure on the blood vessels in the anal area.

Eating plenty of fibre-rich foods such as fruit, vegetables and wholegrain cereals (eg brown rice, wholemeal bread), and drinking plenty of fluids, especially water, should keep bowel movements soft.

Avoid rich and spicy food, non-vegtarian food, strict no to pickles

It may help to take a fibre supplement or mild laxatives which soften bowel motions.

Homeopathy greatly helps in curing piles specially the 1st 2nd and 3rd degree piles and no surgery should be thought of till homeopathy has been tried. Some of the most commonly used medicines in treating piles are:
Hamamelis ?Q: very very useful in controlling bleeding caused due to piles
Aesculus: hip-piles with acute pain in the back
Collinsonia: chronic painful bleeding piles with pain as if sticks were placed in the rectum.
Graphitis: for piles and fissures with hard stools
Ratanhia: pain as if splinters of glass were sticking in the rectum
Other commonly used medicines are Sulphur, Nux. Vomica, silicea etc.

Head Remedy is:

Sulphur 30 & Nux. Vomica 30
Sulphur 30 to be take 3-4 drops in 1/4th glass of water; preferably empty stomached; early in the morning.
Nux. Vomica 30 to be take 3-4 drops in 1/4th glass of water; preferably empty stomached; 30-45 minutes after dinner/before going to bed.

Write for more help .. Cheers!!!

admin answers:

Hemorrhoids, which are also called piles, are swollen and inflamed veins in your anus and rectum. They may result from straining during a bowel movement. Apart from surgery for this you can apply some creams, which will give you only temporary relief. HEDENSA is once such cream available in India and you can apply.

Hemorrhoids can develop from any increase in pressure in the veins in the lower rectum. Common sources of pressure and hemorrhoid causes include:

-Constipation and the accompanying straining
-Diarrhea and the continuous expulsion of loose stools
-Sitting or standing for a long time, especially sitting on the toilet
-Obesity

You can also temporarily relieve the mild pain, swelling and inflammation of most hemorrhoidal flare-ups with the following self-care measures:

- Use topical treatments. Apply an over-the-counter hemorrhoid cream or suppository containing hydrocortisone, or use pads containing witch hazel or a topical numbing agent.
- Keep the anal area clean. Bathe (preferably) or shower daily to cleanse the skin around your anus gently with warm water. Soap isn't necessary and may aggravate the problem. Gently drying the area with a hair dryer after bathing can minimize moisture, which can cause irritation.
- Soak regularly in a warm bath. Do this several times daily.
Apply cold. Apply ice packs or cold compresses on the anus to relieve swelling.
- Use a sitz bath with warm water. A sitz bath fits over the toilet. You can get one at a medical supply store or some pharmacies.
Don't use dry toilet paper. Instead, to help keep the anal area clean after a bowel movement, use moist towelettes or wet toilet paper that doesn't contain perfume or alcohol.
- Take oral medications. You can use acetaminophen (Tylenol, others), aspirin or ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin, others) temporarily to help relieve your discomfort.
- These self-care measures may relieve the symptoms, but they won't make the hemorrhoid disappear. See your doctor if you don't get relief in a few days, or sooner if you have severe pain or bleeding.
- Avoid constipation as it is the only main reason for getting piles.
- Also avoid intake of spicy foods. Take fibre rich food.
- Drink plenty of liquids, waters and it will help a lot.

I think you can avoid and have less suffering from Pile and also cure it in long run. -

You could try a complementary therapy such as Chinese herbal medicine or homeopathy.
I found Gillian Mckeiths book, You are What you eat, really good. There's a section on piles with natural remedies and what to eat and what to avoid. Try and avoid wheat, dairy, red meat and highly processed foods. It is really hard to do, but it does pay off. I also follow G.Mckeith's list of foods which are gentle on the stomach (also in that book), its really helped.

admin answers:

Welcome to pregnancy. It happens to a lot of women. I had the same problem my last pregnancy. If they are making you uncomfortable go and buy some witch hazel to dab on the areas. They can get bigger from the strain of the baby on your bowels, and constipation/straining during a bowel movement can also aggravate them. Try to make sure you drink plenty of water, eat a lot of fiber, and if they get too bad you can get a stool softener (NOT a laxative) to help you to be able to have a bowel movement a lot easier.

With acne treatment sets, are you supposed to wash your face between each step?

Like, with Clean & Clear;
do you wash your face then use the cleanser, then wash your face again, then use the moisturizer, then wash your face again and use the spot treatment?

Or just wash your face 'n use the stuff in a row?

I find it hard to believe the rest will work if your just piling creams on your face.

admin answers:

Lol no you DO NOT wash your face once you cleanse it. Use the cleanser, then wait five minutes, then apply the spot treatment then wait another five minutes then apply moisturizer. Be very gentle when you touch you face and apply this products. There are three causes of acne. Imbalance hormones, toxic colon(including diet issues), and a toxic congested liver(for thoose with cystic acne). To balance hormones you might want to add essential fatty acids also known as EFAs. To treat a toxic colon you will need to an internal cleansing. I have tried diffrent ones and the best one i found was "The Colon Cleansing Kit" from blessedherbs.com. To treat a toxic congested liver(for thoose with cystic), you will have to do a Parasite cleanse, and then you might want to do a liver cleansing. Also foods you will need to avoid :Wheat, monosodium glutamate(MSG),Aspartame, Dairy products( milk, skim milk, whey protein, ice cream, cottage cheese, sour cream, yogurt, whipped cream, cheese, ice cream etc. Oh and butter is ok). Avoid sugar(brown sugar, maple syrup, high fructose corn syrup, etc.). Avoid potatoes(not including sweet potatoes or yams). Avoid refined carbohydrated(white flour, cookies, cakes, pizza, crackers, chips, pancakes, grits, spaghetti, noodles, enriched flour, white rice, white bread, macaroni, candy, etc. Avoid shellfish(shrimp, oysters, crab, lobster, etc. Avoid soda, fruit juice(high in concentreated sugars),dried fruits(figs, raisins, dates),fried foods and deep fried foods, roasted nuts, preservatives, alcohol(one you drink), and last but not least hydrogenated and partially hydrogenated oils. It has been said that food had nothing to do with acne. Remember that acne product companies dont want you to cure your acne but control it with drugs to make MONEY.

admin answers:

Obviously not pregnant, but I have just recently had successful treatment for hemorrhoids which have plagued me for years. I tried creams etc and they just did not work and would come back regularly. If you are getting bleeding and bad soreness I suggest seeing your GP and asking about rubber band ligation. This is where they place tiny rubber bands around the base of the hemorrhoids and the lack of blood makes them fall off. It's done at hospital and takes about 15mins to do by a trained nurse. I won't go as far as to say pain free (plus it's different for everyone I guess) but I would say for a short period of discomfort the procedure is definitely worth it. This in combination with a high fibre diet and lots of water should keep you out of the woods. I am 6 weeks out from it and think it was the best decision ever. Good Luck

Make sure you aren't constipated. Drink lots of water and eat plenty of fiber to keep your bowels moving in a healthy way. Dry hard stool will provoke your hemroids.

I'm just wondering if anyone developed piles during their pregnancy and if they disappeared after the birth or whether treatment was required?

admin answers:

I have suffered with pregnancy piles for all 3 of my pregnancies - they don't always go away after pregnancy, you just have to watch that you don't get constipated (pushing and straining will cause the haemmeroids to pop out). I think once you have them, they never disappear. You may not have trouble with them during labour - I never did. There are creams on the market which can be purchased from pharmacies which relieve them. Sometimes a very hot cloth on the area soothes them and makes them shrink (TMI I know!). Just try to stay regular, and they shouldn't be an issue.

I'm sure you will hear some Ayurvedic that will help, I'm guessing turmeric and fenugrek seeds.. I doubt any Homeopathic will.
I've got some good old allyopathic that will help.
Go to a doc and get a script for the usual nitroglycerin gel used by cardiac patients for chest pain. I f you have a compounding pharmacy available have the script written for an 8 to 1 compound with the 1 being the nitro and th e8 being anything comforting for hemorrhoids, even KY is fine. If no compounding in your area just mix it with KY in the 8 to 1 ratio. Apply for a week and no more piles.
For a complete explanation of how it works go to
drmirkin.com
and search for hemorrhoids.

What do you think of Mahmoud darwish?s poem?

You who are crossing among passing words, carry your names and leave! And withdrew your hours from our time, and leave! And take what ever you want from the blueness of the sea and the sand of memory! And take whatever pictures you want so you would know that you will never know how a rock from our land build the ceiling of the sky! You who are crossing among passing words, from you the sword and from us our blood, from you the steel and fire and from us our flesh, from you another tank and from us a rock, from you a gas grenade and from us the rain, and on us what?s on you from the sky and the air, so take your share of our blood and leave! And enter a dancing dinner party and leave! And it?s on us, we, to guard the martyrs roses, And it?s on us, we, to live as we want to live. You who are crossing among passing words, like a bitter dust cross where ever you want but don?t cross among us like flying insects, for we have in our land what to do, and we have wheat to grow and to water it with the dew of our bodies, and we have what do not satisfy you here, a rock or a partridge, so take the past if you wish to the antique market, and bring back the skeleton of the hoopoe on a ceramic dish, we have what don?t satisfy you, we have the future and we have in our land what to do! You who are crossing among passing words, pile up your illusions in a deserted hole and leave! And return the time pointer to the legitimacy of the sacred calf or to the timing of the pistol?s music, for we have what don?t satisfy you here, so leave! And we have what?s not in you, a bleeding homeland and a bleeding people, a homeland that?s good for forgetting or for memory. You who are crossing among passing words, it is time for you to leave, and dwell where ever you want but don?t dwell among us, it is time for you to leave, and die where ever you want but don?t die among us, for we have in our land what to do, and we have the past here, and we have the first voice of life, and we have the present and the present and the future, and we have the nearlife here and the hereafter! So go out from our land, from our shore, from our sea, from our wheat, from our salt, from our wound, from every thing, and go out from the memories of the memory, you who are crossing among passing words!
Seems to be 3 small flaps which overlap each other and open up when he pushes a poo out. They are very red but they don't bleed and don't look like piles as they are all the same size and shape.
I have been keeping an eye on them over the last couple of weeks since first spotting them and there is no change in their appearance. Have had a look at anatomy pictures online but can't see anything which looks like these.

Suspected animal killing neighbors... need some advice...?

This is long, so please just bear with me. I really need some advice.

Let me start out by saying, that a month ago, we had five, healthy, happy cats. I live with my mom in a small neighborhood, free of crime, and not a lot of traffic. A few months ago, new neighbors moved in across the street. I don't want to sound rude, but they were very trashy. They have garbage piling up outside their backdoor, they don't mow their grass, there's probably four adults and four children living there. They're loud and drive crappy cars. This doesn't bother me, and I don't mean to judge, but I'm pretty upset here. Anyways, my boyfriend and I went to the beach for five days and came back on July 15th. The day after we got back, we found Chester, our five year old yellow tabby, no health problems and perfectly healthy, just dead beside our front porch beside a bush. He had a slit to his mouth and cheek, with a little blood from that. He was bloated, being in the sun for a few hours before we found him. He had no other markings. We assumed he had gotten hit in the road, suffered internal bleeding, and dragged himself into the yard, and died. We found no blood in the street, nor in the place he died or around it. I suspected the neighbors then, but tried to be logical and put two and two together. We burried him under a maple tree in our yard, said our goodbyes, and began the long journey of accepting the death of a beloved pet.

About two in a half weeks later, just today, around 1 pm, my boyfriend arrived at my house. He told me Snowie was dead, at the end of our driveway. I went outside, and sure enough, she was. She was on the very edge of the road, soaking wet, and freezing cold. It was about 90 outside today, and while it rained early this morning (around 5), it is now very sunny, warm, and very hot. She was found in the sun, but yet she was soaking wet. No blood, no markings on her at all, just soaking wet and cold, despite being in direct sunlight. Our neighbors, whom we suspect, have two pools in their backyard. She had not been run over, she had not been hit.

My mom and boyfriend are on their way to Wythville, Va right now. There is a lab there that does autopsy's for animals. We want to get to the bottom of this. I'm hoping the deaths are natural causes, of course. I want that piece of mind. We got pictures of her, the place she was found, pictures of the pool in the backyard (in case they take it down) and pictures of their cars in the driveway, showing that they were there at the time. Just in case, as evidence if we need it. My question is, what happens now? Is this just us being paranoid, or do I have a real reason to suspect these people we don't know? I have three cats remaining, plus two dogs that have a big fenced in yard outside, but they go in and out as they please. Until we find out what's going on, we're keeping the animals inside. What should I do? Should I worry? Should I get more evidence? How? What steps do I need to take that, if she was drowned, to convict them?
Any advice or words to help would be greatly appriciated... thank you so much.

admin answers:

I'm sorry for the loss of your two cats.
It's unusual for two cats to just die like that. There are a lot of people that really hate cats and would rather see them dead. I suppose I would be suspicious, but you have no proof. Keep your animals inside and check with other neighbors to see if any of their pets have died recently. Pay attention to what goes on across the street. You might want to talk to the neighbors that have a backyard bordering these neighbors and see if they see anything suspicious.

"In their natural environment - why half these little shavers wouldn't make it to adulthood,
I'm just merely helping nature keep the balance. If I didn't, someone else would."
"No good blaming me, man.
No one questions the Eskimos, been killing 'em for ages."
The Inuit, my friend - he was killing for survival. He didn't have a twenty thousand tonner to transport him. He hunted from a kayak with a quiet desperation and he used up every scraping of his kill. The skin he wore to warm him and the sinew made his bow string and the bone was shaped for arrow head and fishing hook and bow. The meat provided food for all the family's existence.
Then some designer comes along and says "That outfit looks so cute and we could sure create a fashion out o' him!"
So the caps and capes and coats and gloves and stoles and knee length boots are all promoted in the glossy magazines . . .
. . . And all the crappy little souvenirs that flood across the market - little seal with button-eyes and with a corkscrew up its grommet and no mention of the slaughter on the ice . . .
. . . P'raps a postcard of a bloody trail of naked little carcasses, lying there and rotting, isn't nice.
"Ah they never know what hits 'em, and I'll guarantee they're dead - well as near as makes no difference - honest . . . and we get 'em when they're babies 'cause they need the skins that colour, hey, the biggest laugh about it is, they stand and watch you coming - there's no sign of any danger there at all . . . and there's tons and tons of orders stretching months and months ahead!"
Shall we take this callous killer and dispose of him together, you and I?
Does no good to smash his head in, although that would please me muchly, but another ten would come to earn his wage.
No, the only way to do it is to shun the sealskin product, leave it lie and rot in warehouse and in factory and boutique. Maybe next year at this time, we can face the spring together, with a picture free of infant killing baseball batting b******s with the knowledge that the bottom's dropped right out of all this misery, and kids have got a prospect of a family of their own, in the years they have ahead.
Shall we do it, you and I?

Friend: dont' worry , take some right amount exercise , then you will feel better please
maybe it is use for you :
If there is a choice, patients will not opt for hemorrhoids laser surgery as a solution to their problem. There are too many horror stories of the excruciating pain of the surgery and the long recuperation periods.
There are five types of hemorrhoid surgery. Three are used for external hemorrhoids- hemorrhoidectomy, laser coagulation and infrared photocoagulation. Injection sclerotherapy and rubber band ligation are used for internal hemorrhoids. These hemorrhoids are not curable with ointments and other non-surgical methods. The help of laser surgery is needed for getting rid of these hemorrhoids.
What is Hemorrhoids Laser surgery?

Hemorrhoids laser surgery is a process where skilled surgeons use laser light with pinpoint accuracy. During this procedure the unwanted hemorrhoid is simply vaporized or excised.

The laser beam is infinitely small, which allows for precision and accuracy. This helps facilitate rapid and unimpaired healing.

Earlier procedures involved laser coagulation, an electric current applied to the hemorrhoid through an electrode probe. The hemorrhoid went through a chemical reaction that stopped blood flow to the area and allowed the swollen tissue to shrink.

But now surgeons are using a more sophisticated laser in hemorrhoids laser surgery. This laser provides pinpoint accuracy for vaporizing or removing various types of hemorrhoids.

What are the advantages of hemorrhoids laser surgery?

The surgery results in less discomfort. The use of medication is also decreased and the healing process is much faster. Usually a hospital stay is not required and the patient is released in a few hours.

The laser is inherently therapeutic and enables the sealing of nerves and tiny blood vessels. This is done with the help of an invisible light. Post operative discomfort is also something the patient is relieved of, since sealing superficial nerve endings minimizes this discomfort.

The proctologist closes the tiny blood vessels, which keeps the operation in a controlled and bloodless environment. The entire procedure is comparatively less painful and uncomfortable for both the patient and the doctor. The procedure is much quicker, which is a relief for both the doctor and the patient. Hemorrhoids laser surgery is used alone or in combination with other modalities.
Side effects of hemorrhoids laser surgery

Even laser surgical procedures have certain side effects such as infection, under correction and over correction. But sometimes you don't have a choice, and the benefits far outweigh the drawbacks.

Good luck to you , Merry christmas and Happy new year !

1 surgery
2 sclerotherapy by injecting a substance cause thrombosis and healing of the piles.
3baron band ligation which is very poular in usa.
Now being u r terified from surgery plz ask your surgeon if band ligation is possible.

Seeking Hemorrhoids Treatment?

I am suffering from internal hemorrhoids from past 6 months, it gives discomfort, burning and itching a lot and very much painful during bowel movement, after consulting homeopathic physician, i m having hamamailes drops and some mixed solution sugar balls on regular basis, it gave me just 40 % relive from chronic constipation and pain. but there is not improvement at actual effected area(piles). please suggest what to do? I don't want surgery done but I've already suffered a lot.

admin answers:

I'm not sure how effective your homeopathic treatment is. However, most hemorrhoid trouble is diet related, and can be helped a great deal simply by eating better and differently. What you need to combat constipation is fiber, from fruits and vegetables, and whole grains and cereals. You also need to drink plenty of plain water. You should avoid dairy products, red meat, and refined white flour foods- like white bread or white rice, and preprepared foods. There are also drinkable fiber mixes available from pharmacies which mix in water, and you drink a glass each day. You can also benefit from a stool softener, to help ease things passing, at least until the increased dietary fiber can take over. It can take several months after starting an improved diet to completely heal a hemorrhoid, but you should be able to notice relief much faster- within a month or so at least. You will need to continue the proper diet though, or the hemorrhoids will return. Although surgery can remove a hemorrhoid, it will not prevent more from developing if you do not change your diet habits. Diet changes are the most traditional, and most effective way to deal with the problem. If that doesn't work, then I'm afraid you will need something a little more radical and unpleasant.

I have been diagnosed with extra pulmonary tuberculosis about 3 months a go. I had a surgery but nothing showed up in my lungs. I am absolutely fine now. even my wound has been recovered as well.

But only the problem facing right now is, the TB medication. it has upset my tummy very bad and that i have got bad piles and burning while i poo and even after i come out of toilet as well. i have been having this problem for last 2 months. I spoke to doctor and he did tell me that TB medicines are very bad for tummy. but i can not stop them..
in fact i am on antibiotics for more than 6 months ( Dr fails to diagnose my TB and put me on some other antibiotics like flucloxiciline and amoxiclav ) i know that being on antibiotics for long time it ruins ur tummy and it kills all good bacteria as well.
I spoke to dr and told me not to eat oily and spicy food and drink loads and loads of water which is i am doing for 6 months. but still i have not got cured with piles. it has been so bad for last week.

my question is can i stop TB medicines for 10 days ? and i will start taking them back afterwards as soon as my tummy gets recovered.

To be the honest no the doctor will explain to you that it is best for you to continue on the treatment continoulsy. If you do take a break then the meds will stop working.

You need to speak with your doc about the piles, they wont kill you yet TB could so you need to continue with them

Heal Hemorrhoids is used to treat chronic external / internal hemorrhoids and is proven to shrink hemorrhoidal tissue and completely eliminate hemorrhoids.
The product has been formulated with the the highest quality essential oils.

Heal Bleeding Hemorrhoids is a milder anti-inflammatory formula to treat bleeding hemorrhoids or anal fissures. This formula is also used to calm acute pain and reduce swelling. It too has been formulated with the highest quality essential oils.

If you have hemorrhoids as well as bleeding (even the occassional bleeding), this is a secondary condition caused by the hemorrhoids rupturing.
Sitz baths, sitting in a tub of very warm water; emollients applied after a BM, Vaseline Intensive Care being effective and inexpensive; Preparation H.; mineral oil and other stool softeners plus a high fiber diet make defecation more comfortable. All these give temporary relief.

Unfortunately, many hemorrhoids recur and become more bothersome so that the patient opts for surgery. I'm told that newer techniques often allow for more rapid post-op recovery. A proctologist may be your best option.

NO! Trust me, you DO NOT want to add more fiber it will just make your constipation worse. I have been living with Crohns Disease for 15 years and if you are constipated you need a stool softener, not a laxative, just a stool softener. Fiber will just add bulk to your system which you DO NOT need. Start by taking the stool softener 3 tablets a day for one or two days and then see what happens. It will cause loose stools, but after not being able to go for a week or two you will feel Relief.

admin answers:

Hemorrhoids

What are hemorrhoids?
Hemorrhoids are swollen veins in the anal canal. This common problem can be painful, but it?s usually not serious.

About 10 million Americans suffer from hemorrhoids, which are swollen veins in the rectum or around the anus. External hemorrhoids more commonly cause symptoms of pain and itching when irritated. Internal hemorrhoids generally are painless but can cause bleeding. "They can cause bright red rectal bleeding, but if you have bleeding, don't assume it's hemorrhoids," says Patricia Raymond, MD, of Chesapeake, Va. Colorectal cancer can also cause rectal bleeding, so you need to see your doctor to rule out cancer or other serious causes of rectal bleeding.

Veins can swell inside the anal canal to form internal hemorrhoids. Or they can swell near the opening of the anus to form external hemorrhoids. You can have both types at the same time. The symptoms and treatment depend on which type you have.

Many people have hemorrhoids at some time.

What causes hemorrhoids?
Too much pressure on the veins in the pelvic and rectal area causes hemorrhoids.

Normally, tissue inside the anus fills with blood to help control bowel movements. If you strain to move stool, the increased pressure causes the veins in this tissue to swell and stretch. This can cause hemorrhoids.

Diarrhea or constipation also may lead to straining and can increase pressure on veins in the anal canal.

Pregnant women can get hemorrhoids during the last 6 months of pregnancy. This is because of increased pressure on the blood vessels in the pelvic area. Straining to push the baby out during labor can make hemorrhoids worse.

Being overweight can also lead to hemorrhoids.

What are the symptoms?
The most common symptoms of both internal and external hemorrhoids include:

Bleeding during bowel movements. You might see streaks of bright red blood on toilet paper after you strain to have a bowel movement.
Itching. Rectal pain. It may be painful to clean the anal area.
Internal hemorrhoids

With internal hemorrhoids, you may see bright red streaks of blood on toilet paper or bright red blood in the toilet bowl after you have a normal bowel movement. You may see blood on the surface of the stool.

Internal hemorrhoids often are small, swollen veins in the wall of the anal canal. But they can be large, sagging veins that bulge out of the anus all the time. They can be painful if they bulge out and are squeezed by the anal muscles. They may be very painful if the blood supply to the hemorrhoid is cut off. If hemorrhoids bulge out, you also may see mucus on the toilet paper or stool.

External hemorrhoids

External hemorrhoids can bleed, and then the blood pools, causing a hard painful lump. This is called a thrombosed, or clotted, hemorrhoid.

How are hemorrhoids diagnosed?
Your doctor can tell if you have hemorrhoids by asking about your past health and doing a physical exam.

You may not need many tests at first, especially if you are younger than 50 and your doctor thinks that your rectal bleeding is caused by hemorrhoids. Your doctor may just examine your rectum with a gloved finger. Or your doctor may use a short, lighted scope to look inside the rectum.

Rectal bleeding can be a sign of a more serious problem, such as colon, rectal, or anal cancer. So if the first exam does not show a clear cause of your problems, your doctor may use a lighted scope (sigmoidoscope) to look at the lower third of your colon. Or your doctor may use another kind of scope (colonoscope) to look at the entire colon to check for other causes of bleeding.

How are they treated?
For most external hemorrhoids, home treatment is all you need. This includes slowly adding fiber to your meals, drinking more water, and using over-the-counter ointments for a limited time to stop itching. You also may use stool softeners. The same home treatment can be used for most internal hemorrhoids.

If your hemorrhoids are severe, you may need other treatment. The doctor may tie off the hemorrhoids with rubber bands, scar the tissue around the hemorrhoids, or put a shot of chemicals in them. These treatments reduce the blood supply to the hemorrhoids so that they shrink or go away.

Surgery to remove hemorrhoids may be done if other treatments don't work.

Healthy habits can help you prevent hemorrhoids or keep them from getting worse. Eat foods that have lots of fiber, such as fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Also, drink plenty of water, and get some exercise on most days of the week.

Before you do any home cures, I would suggest that you check whether you do not have cancer of the rectum and/or other medical complication, that is a must because I think you should, just to be sure and set your mind at rest. Then you could use pessaries which are of a gel variety and non-medicinal which do not cause any kind of side effect and are available at any pharmacy and you need not be shy to consult the pharmacist because he would also tell you whether most of them are medicated with soothing chamomile as well. Olive oil is a good cure and can be inserted with a syringe. It is also best to relieve the pressure of the stool against the rectal wall, and that can be done with normal boiled and cooled filtered water, you do not want to introduce alien diseases via a bad supply of water, including rust. But if you are bleeding very badly, you would need to have surgery and that is quite a simple operation, I am told, but you do need to check with a doctor first to find the cause before taking any cures:).. Good luck and I will pray that it is a minor problem and not major. By the way, people prone to short tempers and bouts of anger are also said to be "piles cases" so if you are like that (I am not saying you are), you could try yoga or Taisho to calm your nerves and get back to normal and take the cures:).

Have you heard or read about a medical treatment for hemorrhoids, piles?

According to one of the books of Korean. the medical treatment for hemorrhoids, piles was using the leaves of a fig.
The book refers to an actual story of a doctor who published a medical book in 400 years ago in Korea. The usage of medical treatment is using steam from boiling a water with a leave of a fig,
Have you ever heard or read or tried it and recover it?
I do not own the decease right now, however, if this is effective, I read more carefully, remember and tried these stating medical treatments some day not purchasing medicines in the market.

Don't be stupid. Why in the world would you want to use a medical treatment from hundreds of years ago, when people didn't even know that the brain had a function? Those "doctors" had no way to show whether their treatments even worked. Out of 100 people treated with a fig, how many found relief? Are their statistics to prove this is effective?

We are blessed to have modern medical science telling us what really works and what's useless--or worse than useless. Make use of it.

I have haemorrhoids due to constant chemo-therapy causing acidic, runny stools. I have tried most makes of ointment and creams, and I keep coming back to Germoloids Ointment and suppositories. I know that most of these creams have the same active ingredients (Zinc Oxide and an anaesthetic), but this one seems to be better at relieving the itching and the pain.
It is not the cheapest, but I have found it the most effective.
As far as a permanent cure is concerned, you would need to go to your GP to refer you to the local hospital where they can be dealt with, either by elastic bands or, more painfully with injections.
I sympathise with you. Good luck

Of your stomach is ok, piles will be ok. So, eat a large plate full of fruits daily as a ruitine, Papaya is also good for you. Do not eat fried food, or 'Garam Tasir food' do not eat dry fruits, groundnut, spices, eat simple food like rice, dal, khichdi, boil vegetables, curd lassi. Yeah one more thing is, that in a glass pour fresh milk one third of glass, i spoon sugar and rest with cold water, make a lassi, drink it 10 times daily. These things really remove piles. Piles does not become cancer, all types of piles can be cured if proper food can be maintained. No need for operation. If piles is severe, eat 6 spoons of 'Cremaffin' every night, for 3 nights.

First of all if your hemorrhoids, are brought on by constipation.
Then you need to take care of that to get relief. Try eating some prunes or get prune juice. You could try stool softener's.
Also eat high in fiber. But there is no cure for hemorrhoids, that I know of. Believe me I know where your coming from, I have had them for years now. I have flare ups myself. Hope you feel better soon. As for the bleeding if it doesn't stop after your hemorrhoids go down see your doctor. They may have to run some tests. Good luck!
