Hemorrhoids Relief

Internal hemorrhoids are usually painless, although they sometimes cause discomfort and bleeding if a hard stool rubs against them during a bowel movement.

Wiping in itself will not cause hemorrhoids, however the wiping action can irritate hemorrhoids that already exist. To prevent this from happening you need to be able to allow each bowel movement to release its entire contents before wiping.

If you suffer from internal hemorrhoids then wiping to hard may cause the hemorrhoids to bleed. This bleeding may also be caused by the stools being to hard and scratching the hemorrhoids as they pass. External hemorrhoids may start to bleed if you wipe over the affected area to much or too hard.

If at any stage you get diarrhea whilst having hemorrhoids, this may result in painful hemorrhoids. This is because you will be wiping much more frequently and aggravating the affected area. It's always a good idea to be as hygienic as possible when you have diarrhea, to stop it spreading among others. Do this by washing your hands extra thoroughly each time you have a bowel movement.

As the wiping action can irritate your hemorrhoids, it's best to try and avoid it. As an alternative you may like to try a shower to wash the anus after using the toilet and then patting dry with a towel. Soap is not always the best idea because this on its own can irritate the hemorrhoids. If you feel like you have to wipe then I would suggest using a wet piece of toilet tissue using cold water and gently cleaning the area.

To relieve your hemorrhoids of pain then you may find bathing the area in warm salty water 2-3 times a day will help. This can help reduce the swelling increase blood flow if the hemorrhoid has become strangulated. (Known as a thrombosed hemorrhoid) A healthy diet with plenty of fibre will aid the bowel movements by softening the stools and allowing them to pass much more easily. Certain foods such as fast food and foods which are cooked in a lot of fat, should be avoided.
