I watched the proceedings. Ms Warren was very clear in stating that the purpose of the consumer protection agency was to ensure that consumers were provided with understandable information, in plain language, that would allow them to make informed decisions. When a person considers making a purchase, common sense dictates that you understand how much you will be paying, for how long, and what each side is obligated to. How is this in any way a bad thing?

I agree that marijuana should be legal on personal liberty grounds. The majority of people that oppose it see it as a moral and/or public health issue. Whether or not marijuana legalization will help the economy is irrelevant to the debate. Technically, invading a country and selling their citizens into slavery would also help boost the economy. A whole industry would have to created to market, manage, and sell slaves and think of the tax dollars! I know the intent with this legalization argument is to go after those that claim conservative economics is their core ideal, but the ‘legalize and tax’ argument just doesn’t work when it comes to actual votes. I doubt there are many voters that are against legalization simply because they don’t think there is a way to make money off of it.
