Have you ever heard of Dr. Jay Noren, M.D.? Now, just looking at Wikipedia, tell me how long was he President of Wayne State University? Now, do a Web search for him and answer the same question again. Or if you follow the external links Wikipedia itself gives you, you will see that Wikipedia is wrong. (As of this writing, the article hasn't been edited since April 27, by Iftelse.)
Usually, the very first paragraph of a Wikipedia article is quite factually correct, even if the writing is a bit clunky. The incorrect information doesn't usually start cropping up until later in the article. However, a few bold pranksters have succeeded in putting incorrect information in the very first paragraph of certain Wikipedia articles, and those have stood unchanged for a while. But since these examples are not as common as mistakes deeper in an article, I will not jeopardize them by divulging what they are.
