I am a photographer (B&W Artistic Nudes) and work with models (amateur up to professional) from all walks of life. Some have been students who also work at universities as models for classes, some have held 6 figure white collar positions and do it for personal expression (photographed a pharmaceutical sales rep), and some have been those who you see in advertisements and magazines. It is a respectable (and fun) profession / activity. In fact, I met my girlfriend when we were coordinating a photo shoot — she also figure models for classes at universities and art organizations (works as a teacher and working artist by profession). One of the universities here in Pittsburgh feature open drawing every Sunday from 6pm until 8pm with a nude model. When drawing a figure model, you really do lose sight of the fact that she’s naked (in a sexual way) and focus your attention on drawing the lines, shadows, features, etc. Awesome !

This is a great post. Many people I know, particularly those in fast-paced career fields, feel torn between making career changes when they feel ready to start something new versus staying in a bad job just to establish tenure. One of the things I’ve done to help keep me on a path toward long-term goals is to sit down each year and write or revise my 3-5 year plan. When it’s documented, then I’m more sure of myself that I’m on the right track when I make a significant career decision. It becomes easier to weigh out the pro’s and con’s.

You consider yourself liberal in ideology, yet worry about big brother. Liberalism is the essence of Big Brother. This video can very well show why Obamacare will inherently lead to failure.

In the info it states: “The United States health care system is killing Americans at an alarming rate, even though we spend over fifteen percent of the Gross National Product (GNP) on health care.” What makes you think more government intervention will lower costs and change drug habits?
