People get hemorrhoids when they apply too much pressure to the veins in the anal area. This pressure occurs due to several situations. These include standing or sitting for prolonged periods, constipation or straining to pass stools during a bowel movement, excessive diarrhea, from heavy lifting or even pregnancy and childbirth.

Both internal or external hemorrhoids may bleed. If you have bleeding hemorrhoids you may see bright red blood in your stools, on your toilet paper or in the toilet basin. If your hemorrhoids have been bleeding for a long time you should consult a doctor immediately. Always seek the care of a doctor if you notice large amounts of rectal bleeding along with dizziness or faintness.

In order to stop the flow of blood to the hemorrhoid and prevent bleeding you need to avoid straining when you are on the toilet. Straining puts unnecessary pressure on the sensitive blood vessels in your rectal area. The increased pressure causes them to bulge and sometimes bleed.

Sitting or standing for a long periods may cause bleeding because when you sit or stand for too long you are building up pressure. The more pressure, the more chance you will bleed. If you normally sit a lot try to get up and walk around every 15 minutes or so. If you are on your feet all day find a few minutes to sit down and put your feet up.

When you have bleeding hemorrhoids there are a few things you can do to stop the bleeding. One is to wipe yourself with clean wet toilet paper. Wetting the paper makes it softer and less abrasive. Better yet, wipe yourself with pre-moistened wipes that you can buy at the pharmacy. Pre-moistened wipes that contain witch hazel are great for bleeding hemorrhoids because the witch hazel stops the bleeding right away.

A warm bath will also help with the bleeding. Sitting in warm water helps enlarge blood vessels. This allows the flow of blood to move out of the hemorrhoid causing it to shrink. Other natural treatments include creams, ointments & suppositories.

It depends what size the piles are, and how many they actually have. I once saw someone with around 10 large piles who needed extensive surgery in that area-i can imagine his may have bled a fair amount.
Just a quick notice to anyone who wants to avoid piles-eat a high fibre diet, drink plenty or water, and don't strain. Also, try to get on your tiptoes when sitting down, so your knees are higher than your hips-this straightens out the end section, meaning less straining.

I have an 11 year old healthy beagle. We have always fed him natural vegetarian dog food & other different types of foods. He is still spunky and acts like a puppy even though his age. He sheds a little bit of hair everyday but lately he has been shedding huge piles of it. Any suggestions?

There are various things that can cause shedding--
poor nutrition-- dogs are not vegetarians
seasonal shedding-- it's spring
thyroid issues-- common in older dogs

I would change his diet first, then groom him well, and see his vet if it continues.

Please help im really worried about this - thrombosed thing?

I think i have a thrombosed external hemorrhoid i dont have the symptoms of severe pain or bleeding but the lump is dark inside and does hurt abit if i touch it. I cant even explain how i would of got it.

I have a very important day tomorrow and i need to know weather it's ok to leave this till friday? It wont like turn into one of those blood clots that can go to your lungs and kill you? Has anyone ever had one and can tell me what it was like?
Thanks, i just need to know if its ok to be left for another day coz i have a prom thing tomorrow and im styaing with my bf and i dont want to be in any huge pain coz im not atm

When there is a blood clot formation with external hemorrhoids it results in what is called thrombosed hemorrhoid. The veins in the anus area get inflamed resulting in a lot of pain and itching. In the case of external piles, cleaning the area is also difficult after passing stools. In the case of internal hemorrhoids the veins inside the anal canal get inflamed.

Symptoms of thrombosed hemorrhoid are - pain in the rectum anus area, itching, formation of tender lumps near the anus, bleeding while passing stools, blood in the toilet tissue or in the toilet bowel. The bleeding happens due to the rupturing of the veins.

Pressure on the veins in the rectum and anus region increase due to factors like pregnancy, strain for passing stools, constipation, diarrhea etc. These are considered to be some of the main reasons for thrombosed hemorrhoids.

The simplest form of treatment is the use of creams and gels available in the local drugstores. In very rare cases people go through the surgical process called "banding" to get relief. The most preferred treatment option is the natural cure because of the long-term relief.

Natural treatment for thrombosed hemorrhoid will depend on the severity of your problem. In case the problem is mild in nature, then simple changes to your diet may be recommended along with a hot and cold compress.

In case your problem is moderate to severe in nature then you may have to go for a combination treatment. This will involve diet changes along with herbs for correcting - constipation, clot formation, pain and inflammation.

You need to remember that natural treatment for thrombosed hemorrhoid will not produce overnight results. However if you are persistent and determined then you will see good long-term results.

see a doctor

hope i helped you (:

if you had piles which is stuck out and hurt when you move your bowels have got any treatment?
Have anyone tried anyone of this below:

1) Various creams - help reduce the pain, swelling and itching.

2) Injection of medicine that is irritating to the inside - cause hemorrhoid to shrink and is used for the smallest of hemorrhoid.

3) Super freezing - use of extreme cold - causes the hemorrhoid to shrivel and die.

4) Placing a tight rubber band around the base of each hemorrhoid causes the hemorrhoid to shrivel and die.

5) Surgery or laser treatment to remove the hemorrhoid.

6) Natural products for hemorrhoids treatment provide immediate relief and long lasting healing..

If you have taken of the above treatment how many days did it take you to get cured?

Yes, I had a bad case two years ago.
Creams and heat (a method you left out) did not work. I'm allergic to steriods and could not handle the creams.

I had the following procedure done in 2004:
I had a bad hemorrhoid which was removed with method #5 (surgery).
I also had #4 (banding) done for the rest (three) of them.

It took about four weeks for me to recover and my system to adjust.

If you're a hemorrhoid sufferer like I was at one time you know that hemorrhoids are a source of great pain and greater embarrassment to many us. However, there are many factors that go into the cause of hemorrhoids, such as a diet that causes hard stools, obesity, and heaving lifting that can cause blood vessels to prolapse. When simple home remedies such as eating more fiber, drinking more fluids, and sitting in warm baths fail, it is time to seek a doctor's help. For many patients, the first choice sought after hemorrhoid treatment would be hemorrhoid banding.

Hemorrhoid Banding Procedure

The hemorrhoid banding procedure involves ligating, or tying the hemorrhoids with rubberized ties that will cut off blood flow to the hemorrhoid, causing it to die. This procedure is typically performed on internal hemorrhoids. There is some pain initially following the treatment, but banding usually works between a week to ten days time, and is a viable choice for patients with internal hemorrhoids.

The procedure is sometimes performed as inpatient surgery it the patient goes under anesthesia. This would occur if two or more hemorrhoids are being treated simultaneously. However, most times than not hemorrhoid banding is usually done on an outpatient basis in the doctor's office. A local anesthetic may be applied if needed.

The operation is nothing more complex than placing rubber ties around the hemorrhoids, causing blood flow to cease, which results in the death of the hemorrhoid and causes it to slough off. Several banding procedures are generally preferred when many hemorrhoids must be banded, to avoid the risk associated with putting the patient under full anesthesia.

Hemorrhoid Banding After Surgery Symptoms

Patients are often curious about the pain level experienced after the hemorrhoids are ligated. This varies widely. The most common effects are mild pain, and a chronic feeling of needing to make a bowel movement. Discomfort can be managed with OTC painkillers. Some people may prefer bed rest during initial stages of recovery.

Discomfort shrinks rapidly as the hemorrhoid dies. Patients are able to carry on with their normal lives, but are advised to avoid strenuous lifting. Patients must also notify their doctor immediately in the case of fever, severe pain, anal bleeding, or urinary failure. These can indicate hemorrhoid banding complications. Patients should visit the doctor again in a week to ten days after the procedure to make sure it is working.

Hemorrhoid Removal Techniques

Banding is one of several hemorrhoid removal techniques. Some physicians may favor other techniques, such as excising the hemorrhoid surgically or chemically. Doctors who favor banding like it because it is simplistic, non-invasive, and succeeds in a large number of cases. The doctor and individual patient must ultimately determine which hemorrhoid removal procedure is right in each individual case.

Hemorrhoid Banding Cost

This type of procedure cost is usually between $500 and $1500, depending on whether or not the doctor uses one bands or three. Many doctors believe the latter to be far more effective. Hemorrhoid banding is far and away the least expensive form of hemorrhoid treatment. Hemorrhoid treatment is covered by most major insurance plans.

What is a good way to heal a child's hemorrhoids?

My little boy is 5 years old, and for the last couple of years, on and off, he has had bright red blood on the paper when he has a bowel movement. Not very often, but just every once and awhile. He has had it for a week this time, which is the longest I can remember. He is not a big veggie eater, and the only actual fruit he likes is bananas. He seems to drink all he wants, and I don't give him soft drinks. He says it hurts when he poops, which is another reason I tend to think it is hemorrhoids. He is chunky for his age, and I know weight may have a little bit to do with it. My question is, have any of you moms out there been through this and how did you help the hemorrhoids heal? His pediatrician told me to give him straight apple juice to keep him regular and have softer stools; however, this time around, his poops don't seem that hard. HELP!!

S P I N A C H

Take $20
Go to the Grocery Store
and buy twenty dollars worth of SPINACH

Feed the child SPINACH
until the $20 of SPINACH
is gone

You might say, "He doesn't like the stuff!"
Go to YA and ask for recipes using SPINACH
...how to make it more palatable for a child

You and him both
eat it all up until the $20 worth of
SPINACH is gone

Popeye Spinach usually costs around 50 cents a can

i think i have haemorroids internal and external, they are extremely itchy and now are bleeding most nights. i also have this jelly sort coming out too can anyone help?

You need to see a Proctologist about your hemorrhoids as soon as possible as well as a Gastroenterologist for a complete endoscopy. Until you do, you should purchase some lubricating suppositories and take an over the counter stool softener in order to avoid straining at bowel movements. You need to get diagnosed and treated. I suggest occult blood testing as well as a colonoscopy to determine the cause of the rectal bleeding. This does not sound normal and you must not ignore these symptoms. Best wishes to you.
