When is the latest you can travel during pregnancy?

I am in Asia at the moment, and my fiance is stationed here until the end of Feb. I'd like to leave with him, but don't know how late I can fly on a plane overseas pregnant??

Hey,

As far as I know it is safest to travel in the second trimester.
That does not mean it is completely safe just safest.
Travel by air has special consideration becasue of the altitude.
Planes are pressurised for comfort but not to sea level pressure.
I think they are pressurised to about 8,000ft where there is much less oxygen. This is one casue for concern when pregnant.

On a long journey you also have to think about what care is available in an emergency.

Have a look here for some other q&a's

http://www.babycenter.com/pregnancy/pregnancytravel/index

Most airlines will also have a policy on pregnant travellers.
This is what British Airways has to say.
=======================================
For uncomplicated single pregnancies, we restrict travel beyond the end of the 36th week, and for twins, triplets etc., beyond the end of the 32nd week.
After your pregnancy has entered its' 28th week, we ask that you carry with you a letter from your doctor or midwife, stating the pregnancy is uncomplicated and confirming the expected date of delivery. In this letter, your doctor should state that you are in good health, that they are happy for you to fly, and that (in their opinion) there is no reason why you cannot fly.
===========================================

Most travel insurance companies will have exclusions based on preganancy. Some will not cover beyond the 30th week.
============================================

http://www.phatravel.com/new/travpreg.html

===========================================

I'm sorry if this may not be good news for you if you have to leave before him.
Travel safely and talk to your healthcare provider.

Good Luck !

What is a good way to heal a child's hemorrhoids?

My little boy is 5 years old, and for the last couple of years, on and off, he has had bright red blood on the paper when he has a bowel movement. Not very often, but just every once and awhile. He has had it for a week this time, which is the longest I can remember. He is not a big veggie eater, and the only actual fruit he likes is bananas. He seems to drink all he wants, and I don't give him soft drinks. He says it hurts when he poops, which is another reason I tend to think it is hemorrhoids. He is chunky for his age, and I know weight may have a little bit to do with it. My question is, have any of you moms out there been through this and how did you help the hemorrhoids heal? His pediatrician told me to give him straight apple juice to keep him regular and have softer stools; however, this time around, his poops don't seem that hard. HELP!!

S P I N A C H

Take $20
Go to the Grocery Store
and buy twenty dollars worth of SPINACH

Feed the child SPINACH
until the $20 of SPINACH
is gone

You might say, "He doesn't like the stuff!"
Go to YA and ask for recipes using SPINACH
...how to make it more palatable for a child

You and him both
eat it all up until the $20 worth of
SPINACH is gone

Popeye Spinach usually costs around 50 cents a can

Try this!

IT WILL ABSOLUTELY WORK

Our society is so controlled by so many things such as the need to feel good, look good" and "perform well." We have turned into a society of "medicated freaks." In this article we will try to define some of the problems we as a civilized society are faced with, in regards to the illness of bipolar and bipolar medication.

The First Problem " Pressures"

One of the big problems is, teachers and everybody else are advising parents for their children to go on medication because we would like to have what we call a cookie cutter classroom." Everybody left and right these days are self taught authorities" in diagnosing problems with children, which is very frightening. If that is not frightening enough, over half of the parents were advised by the so called" authorities have insisted their pediatrician put the child on medication. These children were put on drugs because of pressures from non professional.

ProblemTwo " Quick Fix"

Instead of working at de-stressing our lives, we take a pill and if its not better in one hour, we double the dose. Actually we are not giving time for a headache to heal slowly. Or if our little son sneezes we rush for the childrens cough and cold medications. If they don't like the flavor we must run out and get the right flavor. We don't give the body a chance to work on what is causing the sneeze; its probably from some dust. Instead we pump the child up with every sort of medication.

Third Problem " Wrong Diagnosis

We find that a lot of doctors are fast in prescribing strong medication to very young children with Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder ( ADHD). In a lot of cases it may cure the present illness, sometime other symptoms which were not present resurface, so other drugs is given. This can be compared to the person who swallowed a fly and to get the fly she had to take in the spider to catch the fly and the rat to get rid of the spider. Most doctors are too proud to admit that they they are lost in their diagnosis and so pump medication after medication, stimulants and ant stimulants, antidepressants and antipsychotics into the young child's body.

Fourth Problem " Availability of Drugs

Because the present society is hooked with immediate gratification, the easy excess of drugs adds wood to the fire. Most of us who have the money to burn want the fix it NOW problem. Instead of becoming patient, we become very impatient to what is happening in our body.The body must be helped to use its own natural ability to fight its problems.

Fifth " Money

All of us including pharmaceuticals are so obsessed with money and so want to sell to get the money whatever the cost. Most doctors dealing with medicine do not really know the real power of bipolar medications. Nearly all those who make these drugs and those giving it are all driven by making more money. While this may insult some people, but I think all of us are fed up with this money thing.

Parting words

After all that is being said and before you run off to the chemist for your medications or your children s, it would be a good idea to just sit down and try another approach. It is the non medication approach which a lot of parents have done and proven successful. You bipolar children are precious that must not be pumped up by any medication we can lay our hands on.

Bipolar disorder in children can be very different than those that are experienced by adults, this is a known fact. Other symptoms like attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) or depression can be confused with bipolar. When bipolar is found in children it significantly interferes with their everyday life at home, in school and with friends.

Early Signs

Are you finding your children not listening, their behaviors outrageous, public behaviors embarrassing and to top it all up they wont do as they are told. Well, you are not alone with your problems and getting your children to behave is much easier than you think, but, there is a right and a wrong way to do these with your bipolar child.

Doing it the Wrong Way

Because we have been brought up by shouting and punishment we believe that it will work for bipolar in children. The fact is, it won't work. It is important to remember you are dealing with a brain problem, not your unusual ordinary child. Even when we yell, shout, and hand out different types of punishments, three out of four bipolar kids get up to behaviors they already KNOW are wrong and yet, continue to do them. It is surprising, that the key to ending these problem behaviors is actually to STOP threatening punishments and instead offer rewards.

Addicted to their Behaviors

If you have any idea of being addicted to something, you can at least have some idea on children who are like gamblers and addicted. These children are addicted to their very behaviors - such as temper tantrums and fighting with other children. We as parents must first understand and know why the child is doing what they are doing. Once we know these facts, you can now begin to give positive encouragements to your children, which will eventually change them into good and tolerable children.

Knowing What Works

May have a negative result rather than a positive one, as we have seen before, arguing and shouting doesn't work. When you try and get children to clean up, help in the compound outside, or take responsibility for their toys it doesn't have to be a task! After every responsibility try to make a big show that what they have done has been appreciated and thank them for what they have done. Any opportunity offers them, a congratulatory hug or word. A positive remark here and there can work wonders. Doing this you in are in fact training their mind to react to positive attitudes. These formula, Negative action = Negative reaction and Positive action from parents = Positive reaction from kids may be good to remember every time you interact with your child.

The Problems with Diagnosing Children

Bipolar in children can be very difficult to diagnose, because of other symptoms not related to bipolar.

All bipolar drugs are powerful " which can result in overdose.

Some psychiatrists are quite heavy-handed with giving medications to bipolar children.

Resulting in hair loss, weight gain, and acne (small swelling on the skin), this can become be a big problem for children with very sensitive skin.

Have Been Put to the Test

Proven by lots of parents, the body can recover itself without the use of strong bipolar medication. The two words required are being POSITIVE and learning to stay PATIENT.
