Need help with major anal fissures/ hemorrhoids?

I know the difference between an anal fissure and a hemorrhoid (the definition) but i still can't tell which one I have. I have 2 of them. And one is on the front part and the other is on the back part of my anus, I don't know if that helps determine. I have had them for about for like 7 years now and they are very painful. I'm in my late teens and I want to do something about it before it gets even worse. I don't have much money to go see a doctor at the moment so I would appreciate all the advice I can get. Also, do I need a prescription for an anal/hemorrhoid cream? And the name of the creams would help too. I'm asking a lot but everything helps. Thank you.

Do you have what looks like grapes hanging out of the anus?

If yes then they are haemorrhoid's.

And anal fissure is hard to detect as it hides in the anal folds and creases.

A hemorrhoid should be surgically removed to be treated permenantly. If you wont a cream for temporarily relief you can use "Procto- synalar" or any similar cream that you can find OTC.

What is unusual bleeding?

What counts as unusual bleeding? I noticed I have been getting quite a few bruises since I started a new medication a few months back, and also had what I suspect was hemorrhoids (I have never had them, but I think thats what it was). Does that come under the definition of 'unusual bleeding', which is a side effect of the medication I am on.

I am not really concerned, I have been on the meds for a while and feel good. My mother mentioned it though, and when I looked at the info pamphlet I saw unusual bleeding and wondered.

Unusual bleeding is a very broad term. It could easily mean excessive bruising, or prolonged periods, or that you bleed for three hours after you get a paper cut. New hemorrhoids are not unusual bleeding, although if they bleed for a long time after they burst, that would be unusual bleeding. I wouldn't necessarily be worried, but I would definitely point it out to your physician the next time you are in for a check up.

My poor boyfriend. He has a sentinel pile...he's in soo much pain when it acts up. When he was sitting in our classes today my heart broke, I kept seeing him move positions to make the pain stop, he couldnt concentrate. He said its especially worse when he has a bowel movement. I was wondering if anyone knew any at-home treatments because he is embarassed to go to the doctors office. I suggested that he apply vaseline or any type of oily/lubrication to himself before he has a bowel movement to ease the pain??

Preparation H or other antihemorrhoidal creams would help. Additionally soaking in a warm tub of water after BMs would help as well.

The main thing is to prevent constipation as the excessive straining and hard stools cause worsening pain.

You can also get him a donut seat cushion to use so he doesn't apply direct pressure to it.

If it is very painful and is so for long periods of time without relief (multiple days) you may want to get it checked by a doctor as it may have become a thrombosed hemorrhoid (meaning the blood in it has clotted off). This will require the hemorrhoid to be cut open and the clot removed.

If so, if you were accepted how long did you have to wait to go to the home to begin treatment?

I applied for myself and after several long months my application was finally sent to be reviewed for acceptance and now I am waiting to hear if I am accepted or not and I am just curious to know of an approximate length of a waiting list....

For my sake I hope I am accepted because I am not sure how much longer I can last on my own and its not like I can afford to go to counseling as I do not have a job and I am in the middle of filing for bankruptcy.

For the people that want to tell me to go through my county for therapy; I already did that and it did not do me any good... just added more stress because it was just another bill to add to my collection pile.

I think that you've shown a great desire to improve your life because you have tried alternatives, realized they didn't work, looked for another solution and have made the effort to get accepted. This looks great on your application so don't sell yourself short. You should feel free to call them to see how the application process is proceeding. Waiting lists for various programs can vary depending on the number of current applicants so only the program admission office can give you an estimate of wait time if you are accepted. I know that it's hard to be patient when you are in need but the wait can certainly be worth it. In the mean time at least consider some alternative therapies such as tai chi or yoga for relaxation. If you feel depressed or out of control, please remember that there is help available and that you are not alone.

To make a long story short, I'm having issued with my parents in particular. I'm 27 and married and moved out about 7 years ago now, but I try to have a good relationship with my parents, even though my childhood was full of me being physically abused.

My dad is away most of the year for business, so I help my mom and get her going to the gym and we go shopping together. I listen to her problems. But my dad just got back recently for being away for 5 months straight. Suddenly she is a different person. Now my parents have a very bad marriage, my dad is never home and he does this on purpose. When he is back they sleep in seperate rooms and fight alot. They've both told me in confidence that they hate eachother, but my mom stays for money, my dad stays so she takes care of the house while he's gone.

My car repair light came on and so I gave my dad a call so we could get together and work on it (since he's a mechanic). My mom answers the phone and starts demanding I tell her what I need, I say well the car light went on and wanted dad to help me fix the problem. She got very defensive and told me well he needs to fix a pile of things here first before he'll ever help you!. I said that was fine it wasn't an emergency but she was hesitant to give my dad the phone.

Well he says sure and we set a date. The day comes and nothing happens. I figure okay he has forgotten, so I'll call him on Friday to set up for the next day. Again my mom answers the phone and she is very nasty to me demanding to know what im calling for. I said well I need to arrange a time with dad to work on the car, and she goes on how she needs things done first. Again I said it's not an emergency, but it will be in a couple weeks so we have some time. My dad arranges a time with me on Sunday after church. My husband and I get there, and he's not home.

My brother was there and said he went into the city with mom.... I just feel so brushed aside. I dunno what to do, car repairs with a company is so expensive and my mom just doesn't care, she keeps making my dad ditch me. I end up crying at home because of this treatment, she depends on me so heavily when he's gone, and when he's here she's mean and monopolizes my dads time.

here comes mothers day and every year she expects something lavish from me. Should I just lump the bill somewhere else and tell her no gift because of me having to go elsewhere for help? Or should I tell her how this is really hurting me and still get her a gift?

I've broke Yahoo!'s balls on my blog a number of times for the bias they show with misleading and outright lying headlines they display on their home page (that they clearly add to AP and Reuters stories on their own), as well as other obvious forms of bias... and I barely scratch the surface. But this is a new low... Giving Al Gore a propaganda soap box at the trendy new Yahoo! Answers? Please explain yourself Yahoo! I'm not even going to get in to what a pile "global warming" is, but please tell me why Gore get's this special treatment?

Well, jonasweepel, you may have a point... but I'm not so sure. While at the moment I'm unable to find anywhere that Yahoo! claims not to discriminate, or hold up one political view higher than the other, that's generally a safe assumption when you're talking about one of the biggest search engines on the planet.

Now, perhaps that's my wrong assumption, I don't know... But I'd be willing to bet that Yahoo! has a policy somewhere, like almost everyone else, that says they don't discriminate based on sex, race, sexual orientation, political leanings, etc.

Can you derive sweet syrup from a corn stalk at home?

After my corn harvest this year in my garden, I was cutting down the corn stalks to shred them into my compost pile. I noticed two things. First, the corn stalks were gumming up my shredder with sticky syrup. Second, when I cut the stalk down, I noticed that the stalk looked a whole lot like sugar cane, so I touched my tongue to the cut cross-section, and it tasted sweet like syrup. I assumed this must be where corn syrup comes from.

So later, I collected a bunch of stalks together and boiled them in a big pot. I got a light yellow-brown cloudy liquid, and tasted it. It was sweet, but it was also bitter. As I search the web for information, it seems that most commercial corn syrup comes from chemical treatment of corn starch, not from the cane of the corn stalks. But it still seems to me as if there ought to be some way to harvest that sweet syrup from the stalk. Has anyone ever heard of such a thing? Did I just do something wrong or is this not possible?

Try looking up "cane press" or "sorghum syrup". Corn stalks probably don't have the same amount of sugar as does cane sorghum, but I'm sure you could make syrup the same way. One reason you got the funky looking liquid was because you boiled the stalks whole when what you really needed to do was to squeeze the juice out first and boil it alone. Even sorghum juice has a green tinge to it initially and you need to skim the bitter tasting foam off as you boil it down.
